Where Google’s Money Goes

Google’s a huge and wealthy company with lots of cash in hand. But where does all that money go? Is their famous corporate slogan “Don’t be evil” borne out when one takes a look at their investments?

One hopes that a company that changed the way we search the Internet to such a degree that their name is nearly synonymous with “Internet search” is investing in technology and a future as cutting-edge and exciting as Google itself. Such a company has the power and the means to fund some pretty amazing and forward-looking projects.

In addition to looking to the future, however, Google has to keep its pulse on the present, and that means making sure it has some political clout. Google has fought hard to keep the Internet as free and open as possible, and those fights don’t come cheap. How does Google balance its investments and its political battles with good business acumen?
